Mindfulness Resources for Children

  • Headspace teams up with Sesame Street (podcast)
    • Headspace is heading to Sesame Street with the new podcast, “Goodnight, World!”, to help kids get the restful sleep they need. Join some of your favorite Sesame Street friends as they wind down for the day, explore Sesame Street, and add a little mindfulness to kids' bedtime routines
  • Breathe, Think, Do with Sesame (game)
    • This is a resource app for you to share with your child to help teach skills such as problem solving, self-control, planning, and task persistence.
    • Laugh and learn as you help a Sesame Street monster friend calm down and solve everyday challenges. This bilingual (English and Spanish), research-based app helps your child learn Sesame’s “Breathe, Think, Do” strategy for problem-solving. Tap and touch to help the monster friend take deep breaths, think of plans, and try them out! Your child will enjoy silly animations and playful interactions as she is exposed to important emotional vocabulary, a calm breathing technique, personalized encouragements, and more!

Understanding Your Distracted Child: The Many Causes of Inattention

Distractibility and inattention in children can be misunderstood and commonly attributed to ADHD. This symptom can often signal so much more! Our panelists will discuss the variety of causes that lead to inattention, such as ADHD, mood disorders, trauma, and medical issues.

Parents will walk away wit an understanding of when distractibility is ag appropriate, when to seek further evaluation, and determine the next steps to support your child or teen.

Recommended for parents of children ages 5-18.

How to Talk to Your Child About Upsetting Events in the Media

The past few years have challenged us collectively as a society between a pandemic, racial and political injustice, and now a war in Ukraine. Due to more accessibility to the news and social media the amount of information and frequency of exposure to these upsetting events have increased for our youth. This can leave many parents at a loss of how to talk about this information with their kids.
